Changing Locators

9.3. Changing Locators

9.3.1. As an assembly moves through its range of motion, it is common for the exact locating features to change. This can substantially increase the amount of work needed to model the assembly.

9.3.1.1. First, consider which steps in the motion are needed for the simulation. If measure results are only needed for 1-3 positions, then create sets of moves for each position. Run the model once for each position. Only use the Motion move for graphical analysis (watching the model “jiggle.”)

9.3.1.2. Otherwise, Condition Logic and/or Iteration move loops will need to be set up to find activate the proper locators. Writing out a logic tree before creating the moves will be helpful.
