Forces on Muffler

XI. Forces on Muffler's Hook (Force_Muffler_Hook_y and Force Muffler Hook z)

The Muffler will be attached to the Body with one Hook after the assembly is released from the Fixture and sags due to gravity. There will be two forces applied on the Hook attachment point: one in y direction and one in -z direction. The purpose of these forces is to raise the assembly to the Body and have the Hook attachment point close enough to the Body attachment point. They will be connected in the next operation.

The amount of force applied for each direction was obtain by experimenting with different values based on the Muffler_Hook measurement.

9.1 Select the force_mv_24 Force icon and choose the ExhaustAsm product as parent part.

9.2 Name the move "Force_Muffler_Hook_y" with a description of "Force applied on the Hook to bring it close to body attachment".

9.3 Select the FEA_inital_plus Plus button in the Object Features section and grab point Muffler_Hook from the Muffler in the Navigation Tree or from the Graph window.

9.4 Hit [Close] in the Select dialog to accept the selections.

9.5 Activate the smoothing check box to use Smoothing.

9.6 Set the force value to 61N, and the force vector direction to (0, 1, 0).

The completed dialog box should appear as below:
