3DCS has various ways to quickly edit a part, copy an MTM, or delete entities or parts. These options are available in the Geometry Tab and the right-click menu from the Navigation tree. These functions allow the user to manipulate/duplicate items within the same part, or between two different parts.

Modeling parts that are similar to each other can be done quickly by copying and pasting a part, points, MTM's, Spec Studies, and Related Lists that are already completed.
The Paste option will paste the last copied point, MTM, Spec Study, or Related List to the selected part/assembly. This function allows multiple selections.
Procedure:
Move (cut)•Right click on a part, point, MTM, Spec Study, or Related List name and select Cut (or select the part and click Edit/Cut). •Right click on the destination part name, and select Paste (or select the part and click Edit/Paste). The item will be removed from the original part, and added to the destination part at the end of the items list. Note: The item can be moved to the end of the point list within the same part using Cut/Paste combination.
Create a Copy•Right click on a part, point, MTM, Spec Study, or Related List name and select Copy (or select the part and click Edit/Copy). •Right click on the destination part name, and select Paste (or select the part and click Edit/Paste). The copied item will be added to the destination part, at the end of the items list. If copied item was a part, the new part and the associated MTM's, both upstream and downstream will also be copied/modified as needed. If the destination part is the same as the origin part, the pasted item will be have a suffix "_1" added to its name.
These functions can be used within a single model or across two different open models. If only working within a single model, a part can be cut and pasted by dragging the part to the desired location or copied and pasted by dragging the part to the new location while pressing the control <Ctrl> key. |
