Defining the model objective is the first step in creating a 3DCS model. The objective dictates which parts need to be included in the model. A clear objective is important to keep modeling useful and efficient. The objective of this model is to study the gap between the Turnlamp and Headlamp. The desired gap is 6 +/-1.5 mm and is shown below. To simulate this gap, we need the geometry and assembly process for the parts that affect the gap. In this tutorial, the part files for the Headlamp, Turnlamp, and Bracket are provided. Because both the Headlamp and Turnlamp attach only to the Bracket, no other parts are required for our model. Any parts that the Bracket attaches to will not affect the gap. Thus, adding additional parts is beyond the scope of the objective and will only add time to complete the model.
