Here is the procedure to inserting a new or existing component in Solidworks.

 

1. Create a new assembly or open an existing assembly.

2. In the Assembly tab, select Insert Component.

2.In the Property Manager tab, a field will be shown to allow users to select a component already open or to Browse... a different part.

3. Select Browse... to open File Explorer and select a part to insert to the assembly. More than one part can be selected.
