Best Practices: Extracting PMI to 3DCS

Below are a few important notes to keep in mind while creating PMI in NX with the goal to extract to 3DCS.

Cad Edges are not supported in 3DCS. It is important not to select edges while creating PMI in NX. If these are extracted to 3DCS, they will not work correctly.

PMI can be named after it is created at the part level by right clicking on the PMI call out and pressing rename. This saves times in renaming in 3DCS.

Adding text to a Feature Control Frame or adding a Note will not be extracted to 3DCS. It is purely used for reference in NX PMI.

Extracting Datum Features and Datum Targets: When creating Datum Targets, it is required to select a main datum surface to ensure that the Datum Targets will extract correctly and included in the Datum Feature.

Requirements:

Surface for Datum Feature.

Points used from Datum Targets must reference the Datum Feature surface.
