Update Model

The DVTI_dcsUpdateModel Update Model command initializes the 3DCS model. It checks the assembly tree for any new parts, updates to the order; any name changes and color changes, which will need to be updated in the 3DCS Model tree.

Update Model needs to be performed for the following situations:

First time opening a model, DVTI_dcsUpdateModel Update Model will pull or read the storage from the Product files.

When new Parts or Assemblies are added to the model.

When Parts or Assemblies with modified geometry are replaced in the model.  (Use DVTI_dcsCreateMesh Update Geometry command after Update Model in this case.)

When Parts or Assemblies are deleted from the model.

When Parts or Assemblies properties, such as Instance or Component names, are modified.

When Parts or Assemblies are moved or reordered in the tree.

When Parts or Assemblies are translated or rotated.

Notes_Lightbulb

Solidworks Users:

Solidworks and 3DCS require the Assembly file to be saved to a folder location or to the PDM system. Similarly, users will need to save the Assembly and parts to Import 3DCS WTX files.

Notes:

Update Model will not proceed if the model was previously saved in a newer version of 3DCS.

Update Model now automatically detects changes in Instance names (in certain cases the names may need to be manually linked - see Tree Link Wizard)

Duplicates names are now supported.

Update Model no longer wipes and regenerates the tree after first update of a model to improve speed.

Update Model can only be activated while in Creation Mode.

Update Model no longer erases the analysis mesh.
