Gravity on Base

X. Gravity on Base (Gravity_Base)

Purpose and usage:

To apply the effects of gravity to individual parts or assemblies while the part/assembly is fully constrained.

Uses a Mass Matrix file generated through the StiffGen (at the same time or separate from stiffness file).

To be able to generate it the user needs to add Density value to the mesh file.

Gravity produces permanent deformation of the whole part (based on the nodes included in the Mass Matrix).

10.1 Select the Gravity_24 Gravity Compliant icon and choose the CMRailAsm product as parent part.

10.2 Name the move "Gravity_Base" with a description of "Apply Gravity to Base".

10.3 Click on the FEA_inital_plus Plus button in the Parts Subject to Gravity section and select the Base part in the Navigation Tree or from the Graph window.

10.4 Keep the Gravity Direction as default: (0, 0, -1).

10.5 Select smoothing check box to use Smoothing.

The completed dialog box should appear as below:

FEA Complain Gravity Move

10.6 Click [OK] to close the Gravity move dialog box.

10.7 Save the model.

Results:

The nominal values of the measurements after applying gravity on the Base will changed.
