The Muffler will be joined to the Pipe with four points on the common surface. The Pipe will be joined to the Manifold with two bolts.
6.1 Select the [Join] icon and choose the ExhaustAsm.
6.2 Name the move "Join_Muffler_->_Pipe" with a description of "Join Muffler to Pipe with four points, target plane".
6.3 Click on the [ClickToAdd] button in the Joining Object Pts section and grab points labeled J1_Muffler-Pipe, J2_Muffler-Pipe, J3_Muffler-Pipe, and J4_Muffler-Pipe on the Muffler.
6.4 Click on the [ClickToAdd] text in the Joining Target Pts section and grab points labeled J1_Muffler-Pipe, J2_Muffler-Pipe, J3_Muffler-Pipe, and J4_Muffler-Pipe on the Pipe.
6.5 Activate the Smoothing check box to use Smoothing.
6.6 Use Type to toggle between Target Plane and Coincident, and select [Target Associate] for Direction.
6.7 Leave the Infinite input into the Force field for joining force value.
6.8 Ensure that all object points correspond to the correct target points by clicking the [Features] button. If the order is incorrect utilize the Switch To drop-down to correct the order.
The completed dialog box should appear as below:
6.9 Repeat steps 5.1 through 5.7 for Join_Pipe_->_Manifold move.
Results:
The nominal values of the measurements after joining the Muffler, the Pipe, and the Manifold remain unchanged.
