The Process Capability Database (PCDB) file requires users to edit the tolerance lists, Process types, Material type, and the type of tolerance the user wants to create. In this section:Description of Parameters
|
Filters can be used in the PCDB file, to help search or add specific tolerances in 3DCS. Three available filters are: Material (MATL_TYPE), Process (PROC_TYPE), Feature type (FEAT_TYPE). The user can specify any name desired in these columns, they will then be displayed when creating a new PCDB linked tolerance.
DB_DELIMITER - This line is the separator setting. Changing this setting will affect how 3DCS reads the data, if the setting is different than the computer setting.
MATL_TYPES: Example: Type in the MATL_TYPES column and specify if the Material is Aluminum sheet metal or Steel sheet metal.
PROC_TYPES: Example: Type in the PROC_TYPES columns and add Machining, InjectionMolded, etc.
FEAT_TYPES: Example: Type in the FEAT_TYPES column and specify if the tolerance is a Pin, Point, Hole, or Slot, etc.
DB_Version: This row is the version setting for 3DCS to read the version of the Database. This also indicates the delimiter setting to be read in to 3DCS.
The user must add the filter names to both rows and columns in the database file (CSV).
|
SETTING_TYPE: This row defines the tolerance that will be created in the model. Mode, tolerance type, and the Material Condition can be added in the PCDB and it will create the tolerance based on the given information.

Notes: When creating a Positional or Composite tolerances in the PCDB, two to four rows are needed to represent Rand#1, Rand#2, Rand#3 and Rand#4.
