Find_Replace

Commands:

Entities: The entities box allows the user to search for features within a 3DCS model that the users wants to search for. Upon selection of 'All' option all entities, points, surfaces, edges, slots, combined Features, circles, moves, tolerances, GD&T, and measures will be searched for a match with the input in 'Search Term' editor box. One or more entities can be searched at a time.

Search Region:The search region box will search and replace only the specifically selected component if 'Search Region' check-box in the above image is checked; none of the sub-components will be included in the search.

Search Term: A user can enter any search terms.

Find: The find button searches within the defined constraints for the modeling entities related to the input. The results are then displayed with the name, type (e.g point, part, tolerance, etc.), and location.

Replace Term: User can enter replace terms in the editor box next to the "Replace term:" descriptor. Wild card characters cannot be used in this editor box.

Replace Substring: Replace Substring will replace the same part of the word matched that was typed in the Search field.

1.Search a name or part of the name in the Find What field.

2.Select an entity with the word 'Base' in the name. (Base can be part or the whole name).

3.Select Find.

4.Type in a word to replace the searched term in the Replace Term field.

5.Select the entities in the list you want to replace the substring of the name.

6.Select Replace Sub-string. .

Replace String: Replace String will replace the entire string (entity name) with what is provided in the 'Replace Term' editor box.

Edit, Create or Apply Views:

Show View: Shows the saved, selected view in the list. (Default will not modify or change the view of the graph window).

Save View: Saves the current screen view.

If one MTM or GD&T has a view, the user can select all of the views in the list and select Save View to apply the same view to all of the other MTMs and GD&T.

Delete View: Remove the user-saved views displayed in the list of found items. Reverts back to a default name and view (current view).

Notes:

Using Alias Display allows the user to be more specific while searching, and more robust when editing names of MTMs, Points and Features.

Use Replace Substring to modify one or multiple feature names.

Views can be applied to all MTMs in the model. Select all features in the search list and select Save View. The item that was first selected will copy the view to each selected MTM.
