One input to simulate feature deviation in 3DCS is GD&Ts. 3DCS can also use the GD&T that is created in the CAD system and apply it to a 3DCS model.
When creating GD&Ts natively within 3DCS (not extracting from the CAD files), they typically come directly from a part's drawing, but can also come from an understanding of process capabilities or assumptions if a complete drawing is not available to the user. Just like a Tolerance, a GD&T has a Range, a Distribution, as well as a number of other settings that can be set in the Options tab of a GD&T dialog.
