The Nominal Point measurement calculates the deviation of a point relative to its nominal position.

Input requirements:

Measure Type: Nominal-Point

Geometry Requirement: 1 point

Direction Mode: True Distance, Projected on Vector, Projected on Plane

Direction: (Projected on Vector, Projected on Plane)

Output:

Direction Mode: True Distance

The measurement calculates the true distance between the nominal and current positions of the point. The measurement cannot be negative. No direction vector applies. This mode may produce incorrect Contributor Analysis or GeoFactor Equation-Based results, see Analysis Comparison & Assumptions.

Direction Mode: Projected on Vector

The measurement calculates the component of the true distance in the direction specified. The measurement will be negative if the component of the vector from the nominal position to the current position is in the opposite direction of the direction vector.

Direction Mode: Projected on Plane

The measurement calculates the true distance as it is viewed from the direction specified. The measurement cannot be negative. This mode may produce incorrect Contributor Analysis or GeoFactor Equation-Based results, see Analysis Comparison & Assumptions.

Notes:

A Point's Nominal location is determined by the point's location in the Nominally Built position of the part.

If the measure is at the Part or Subassembly level, then the Nominal location is set when the measure is taken, not at the final Nominally Built position.
