Configuration:

License Setting: 3DCS has different configurations, which the license given will allow Variation Analyst, Designer Variation Modeler (DVM) and Mechanical Variation Modeler(MVM) configurations can be manually switched here. Once the user first launches 3DCS, the license setup will initiate how 3DCS will run.

Saving and Backup:

Auto Update Model on Opening: Automatically run Update Model when an model is first opened.

Load last opened model on software start: Automatically opens the last saved model when 3DCS starts. Activating this option will also hide the initial Welcome menu from launching.

Automatic Backup: Automatically back up the current model. A backup file will be saved as often as specified in the Time between automatic backup field. Backup files will be saved in

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\DCS\DCS_All Platforms\backup

or can be configured by the environment variable in the batch (.bat) file. A backup file is saved as the same file name, with the day's date and with the extensions .WTX. Automatic Backup will not happen if the software is left Idle for given Backup Interval time.

Backup interval (minutes): Set the number minutes between automatic backup saves. This option will be active only if the Automatic Backup option is On.

Automatic Backup: Save a WTX file every time Update Model is selected. The DCS Log file will be updated each time Auto Back Up is activated. Backup files will be saved in

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\DCS\DCS_All Platforms\backup

or can be configured by the environment variable in the batch (.bat) file. A backup file is saved as the same file name, with the day's date and with the extensions ".WTX".

Delete Backups older than (days): With automatic backup on, 3DCS will delete backup files older than the specified number of days.

Delete logfiles older than (days): Delete log files that are older than the specified number of days

Delete CGRs older than (days):Delete CGR files that are older than specified number of days.

Flat File Storage: Turning this setting on will save the 3DCS Data only to the root. This helps to save the data without losing any information, when there is no write access to the sub products in the model especially when saved in PLM.

Dialogs:

Only edit one GD&T at a time: Editing GD&T will now group the GD&T in one dialog. Users can activate this option to edit one GD&T at a time.

Only edit one GD&T at a time: When off, multiple GD&Ts that use the same features are grouped and shown in a single GD&T dialog. When on, only one GD&T at a time will be shown in the GD&T dialog.

Middle mouse button closes dialog: if active will close the Analysis window. This option is defaulted ON.

Points dialog precision: Set the number of digits displayed in the Edit Point dialog.

Coordinate system: Local Coordinate system/ Global coordinate system/Stored part locations. The option can be set and saved, so when using Copy Data or copying points from the Point List dialog, the option will be set based on what's set in the Preferences. The user can switch between the three options at any time in each dialog.

Allow Setting Features in Selection and Show Operations: Show the set feature controls Edit Size and Feature Locator options while using Show operations from Feature Info or other MTM dialogs.

Mesh density: This controls the  mesh density for the 3DCS Analysis Mesh. A larger number creates finer mesh, which increases accuracy but decreases analysis speed. The Mesh Density  also controls the number of triangles that represent the part. The default Mesh Density value is 4.is 6.NX is 8 Applies to non-features of size-type features. (DVTI_feature)

Chordal height2

Chordal height: Sets the maximum absolute distance (Sag) between the actual CAD design and the 3DCS Mesh. Applies on all features of size-type features, and if a value is set in the Chordal Height field. (DVTI_CylinderHole, DVTI_CylinderPin, DVTI_ConeHole, DVTI_ConePin, DVTI_SphereHole, DVTI_SpherePin)

Chordal height

The Default is 0 which means the chordal height is not added or activated. If the Chordal height is zero the Mesh Density value will be applied.

Notes_Lightbulb

DVTI_dcsCreateMesh Update Geometry command is required to

regenerate the mesh after making changes to this value.
