Types of GD&Ts

3DCS contains all GD&T options available per the ASME Y14.5.2 Standard published in 2009. Analytically the GD&T does not always perfectly match the allowable variation per the Standard. Each of these pages are meant to describe how 3DCS treats the callouts.

 

 

GD&T Types

Descriptions

DVTI_sizegdt Size

Apply a size tolerance to a Feature of Size such as a hole, pin, slot, tab, etc.

DVTI_postion Position

Apply a Position GD&T to a feature. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_profilesurf Surface Profile

Apply a Surface Profile GD&T to a surface. This typically varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_flatness Flatness

Apply a Flatness GD&T to a planar surface. This varies the form of the feature.

DVTI_perpendicularity Perpendicularity

Apply a Perpendicularity GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the orientation of the feature.

DVTI_angularity Angularity

Apply an Angularity GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the orientation of the feature.

DVTI_parallelism Parallelism

Apply a Parallelism GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the orientation of the feature.

DVTI_straightness Straightness

Apply a Straightness GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the form of the feature.

DVTI_total_runout Total Runout

Apply a Total Runout GD&T to a planar surface or cylindrical Feature of Size. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_circular_runout Circular Runout

Apply a Circular Runout GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_circularitygdt Circularity

Apply a Circularity GD&T to an axial Feature of Size. This varies the form of the feature.

DVTI_cylindricity Cylindricity

Apply a Circularity GD&T to a cylindrical Feature of Size. This varies the form of the feature.

DVTI_concentricity Concentricity

Apply a Concentricity GD&T to a cylindrical Feature of Size. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_symmetry Symmetry

Apply a Symmetry GD&T to a slot or tab Feature of Size. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_profileline Line Profile

Apple a Line Profile GD&T to a planar surface or Feature of Size. This varies the location of the feature.

DVTI_dimensioning_location Dimensioning Location

Apply a Dimensioning Location GD&T to a pair of features. This varies the location of the feature and is meant to be used for drawings that primarily use linear dimension tolerancing rather than GD&T.

DVTI_angle_size Angle Size

Apply an Angle Size GD&T to a pair of features. This varies the location and orientation of a feature and is meant to be used for any angle tolerances on the drawing that are meant to add a location to a feature.

DVTI_torus_minor_size Torus Minor Diameter Size

Apply a Torus Minor Diameter Size GD&T to a torus type Feature of Size.

Descriptions

SetFeatureAverage

Create an inactive (surface profile) GD&T call-out, for the surfaces with the direction not normal to the surface, called 'SetFeatureAverage' and apply it to the same surfaces to correct the direction of deviation. This GD&T call-out should be added first.
